This article describes the ritual, administrative, social, economic, cultural, and political functions and activities of the Grand Mosque of Paris. The primary and secondary data were obtained through a short visit to Paris. Focus group discussion was conducted with the mosque management, imam, jama’ah, and the visitors. The FGD is then triangulated with the data from observation inside and around the mosque. Some literatures and documents related to the mosque were also collected as the secondary data. Data were articulated and analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The study found that the functions and roles of mosque in Paris are well articulated both from the point of view of its internal aspect and external supports. France as a country supports the existence of this mosque as a gratitude for the service of Muslim soldiers who fought for France liberty in the past. Over time, the mosque evolved and its roles and functions went through some diversification as a response to the contemporary Islamic community needs.
